Free agency opened on July 1st and the Toronto Maple Leafs wasted no time to get busy and make some moves. Below is a recap of all of the moves made so far.
Leafs sign forward Kenny Agostino to 2-year, one-way contract with AAV close to $700K. Agostino, 27, played for the Montreal Canadiens and the New Jersey Devils last season where he scored six goals and 24 assists in 63 games played.
Leafs trade Nikita Zaitsev and Connor Brown to Senators as a part of a 6-player deal. Included in this trade was prospect Michael Carcone. In return, the Leafs got Cody Ceci, Ben Harpur, prospect Aaron Luchuk and a third round pick in 2020.
Leafs sign Jason Spezza to 1-year deal worth $700K. Spezza, 36, is coming from the Dallas Stars and will provide strong vet presence for the Leafs.
Senators sign Ron Hainsey and Tyler Ennis to 1-year deals. Hainsey and Ennis both will join former Leafs teammates Zaitsev and Brown.
Leafs trade Nazem Kadri, Calle Rosen, and a 2020 third round pick to Avalanche for Tyson Barrie, Alex Kerfoot and a 2020 sixth round pick. Barrie is a right shooting defenseman who will help improve the blue line for the Leafs. Kerfoot is a young center who shoots left.
